Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

This course is designed to teach you the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child and infant following cardiac arrest. The course is a minimum of three to four hours and needs to updated every 12 months.

Course content includes:

  • Chain of survival
  • Assessing the situation
  • Signs of life
  • Performing CPR
  • Demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillator
  • Care of the unconscious person
  • Special techniques for children and Infants
  • CPR in special circumstances
  • Infection control
  • Reporting procedures

Assessment is based on demonstration of practical knowledge and skills.
