Level 1 - Basic First Aid or Basic Emergency Life Support

This course is a minimum of 8hrs and covers life-threatening emergencies which may occur in the home or workplace.

  • Assessing the situation
  • Signs of life
  • Performing CPR
  • CPR in special situations
  • Special techniques for infants and children
  • Defibrillator demonstration
  • Care of an unconscious person
  • Bleeding and wound care
  • Breathing emergencies like chocking and asthma
  • Shock
  • Serve allergic reactions
  • Burns and scalds
  • Bites and Stings
  • Infection Control
  • Reporting procedures

Assessment is based on practical demonstrations of skills, role play in mock scenarios and a written quiz at the end of the course. You are always well prepared for the assessment and as long as you participate you are guaranteed to pass.
