Senior First Aid Refresher

Because the Senior First Aid Certificate is only valid for three years this course is designed to update your knowledge and skills so you have current qualifications. It is important to continually revise first aid procedures because sometimes they change and it is good practice. The course is a minimum of 8 hrs and you can only complete it if you have already completed a Senior First Aid Course.

Course content includes:

  • Chain of survival
  • Assessing the situation
  • Signs of life
  • Performing CPR
  • Demonstrate use of an automated external defibrillator
  • Care of the unconscious person
  • Special techniques for children and Infants
  • CPR in special circumstances
  • Breathing Emergencies including choking and Asthma
  • Cardiac emergencies
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Shock
  • Bleeding and wound care
  • Burns and scalds
  • Extremes of Heat and Cold
  • Poisoning
  • Altered Conscious States
  • Bites and stings
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Infection control
  • Reporting procedures

Assessment is based on practical demonstrations of skills, role play in mock scenarios and a written quiz at the end of the course. You are always well prepared for the assessment and as long as you participate you are guaranteed to pass.
